One of the most successful rural electrification projects in the world. Around 4 million SHSs were installed under this programme. Also, five million energy efficient LEDs/CFLs were distributed to the households nation-wide. The project was successful due to its unique sales and performance linked incentive mechanism involving the Bangladesh Government, IDCOL, Grameen Shakti, other private sector units, NGOs, government ministries/departments, international donors, foreign embassies, academic institutions, finance institutions, etc. This project also serves as a means of reaching various goals of SDGs in the country.

Ten full feasibility studies and business plans were prepared for rice husk power plants of sizes ranging from 2 MW to 10 MW.
